Does it matter which order I screw my lens hood & UV filter on to my lens?

Should it be lens > uv filter > hood or lens > hood > uv filter?

Really depends on the lens, filter and hood :)

For most of my lenses, it's easier to screw the filter on first, then fit the hood. With the bayonet-style hoods, it doesn't really matter what order you do it in.

If you have a screw-in type hood, then it may matter. In which case, then it depends on whether you think you'll be removing the hood more often than you want to remove the filter.

the nikkor 85/1.4 is a screw on type. The inside of the hood does not have a thread, so its filter before hood if filter.

annoying to remove a filter thru say... a deep hood like on the 105 or 70-200VR
unless you have small long hands :)
