This is my first post in this forum.
I would like to know does anyone use a D100?

Anyway this is a great site - quality information heck I might even buy a D70!!! Though I have a bigger need to get my hands on a 70-200mm VR and D2x

I think birddog does. No doubt he'll post.

Also - a suggestion - update your profile to give us your location. We have people from all over here (Canada, US, UK + us aussies) and this sometimes helps when answering questions.

I've got a friend that does... though he hasn't the faintest idea how to really use it... I had to show him.

He still has yet to become a member... but worry ye not, we've got at least one Canon user on this forum...

I am based in Sydney and learning about Nikon DSLR's. So I am absorbing everything I can about photography. I guess many of the techniques will apply equally to D100 to D70

Welcome onboard D100 user! Yes, I have the beauti D100 same as the D70 and the D2h, apart from focussing and other minor bits, they are identical unit.

IPv6 is the new IP address numbering convention. Not that it is important to Nikon.

Hi IP6, despite the domain name, we do welcome all Nikon DSLR users and even a Canon 10D user has become a regular around these parts - so there must be some aspect that appeals to non-D70 users.

Yes you are right - many of the hints and tips apply equally to the D100. If you came along to one of our meets carrying your D100, we certainly wouldn't make you an outsider. However if you had a Sigma lens on that D100 body you might receive a hard time from the admin Gstark.

Well I will have to stay away from gstark or only turn up with the Nikkor primes.

My zooms are Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 HSM and 24-70mm f2.8.
Tamrom 28-200mm LD

Though I am saving up to get a 70-200mm VR.

You have the Sigma 70-200 and want to get also a 70-200VR? am I correct? what are pros and con there? have you tried out the Nikon 70-200VR?

No not had a chance to have a good test. most of my shots are of a moving target. So I believe a VR will help me get rid of the monopod for maybe 20% of more shots. Would you say so?

The shots I am talking about are water skiing, especially if I am in the boat as well.

The shots I am talking about are water sking, espeacially if I am in the bost as well.

Correct, VR in use will take the monopod or tripod off your hand and VR provides the flexibility of panning same as nail the moving subject easier than non VR and giving you more keeper, especially when you're on the boat, car or plane.

Sigma 70-200 requires a tripod or monopod to shoot with, without tripod or monopod it won't help, especially when you shoot water skiing.
