In camera Nosie reduction.

Hi all,

I was wondering how effective in camera noise reduction is? I've taken a few photos with it on, where it flashes up "JOB NR" for ages while it's processing.

I shoot in RAW.

Is it better to use the in-camera noise reduction, or better to alter the image in Capture/Photoshop?

Regards,
Tommo.

Tommo - I would forget all about the in camera NR - it can be handled more effectively in PP and saves time too

Only consider in-camera NR if your shots are for 30 secs at ISO1600 or 60 seconds or more at ISO200 or if you ever get the purple haze at the top left of your images due to heat on the CCD, then turn on NR, otherwise don't worry about it as Chris said.

Yeah, the in camera NR becomes a pain as it takes a second exposure that lasts as long as the first, really slowing down your shooting. As soon as I noticed that, off it went! :)
