I was in a real camera shop in Lidcombe this week and purchased a 70 210 AF at a very reasonable price.This lens is 15 + or-years old its condition is brand new!!! At present I am feeling my way through this massive maze of the d70 which was purchased with kit lens and 70 300 .Two weeks ago aquired 50 1.8[ thanks Birddog]Been a ex Minolta 101 user for 20 + years I missed my 50mm lens.Any way back to my question did I do the right thing in purchasing 70 210 $300 [told the wife it came with the kit] . Was it a bargin was I a bit green .What are the good and bad points that will help me with this lens .Seems to great so far 200 pix thanks in advance LOZ

I have purchased two of these lenses; both were in immaculate condition and I paid $125 for first and $175 for the second lens. I purchased both last year from eBay (US sellers) before this lens became so popular (I did watch about 25 auctions before I won mine). The price of these lenses has increased now and I sold one of my lenses recently for $250 (the lens I purchased for $125.00). I have seen them sell for even more on eBay sometimes.

Buying from a camera shop, you generally pay a bit more, but it is also more likely that the lens would have been serviced by the shop so you should have no problems with lens performance. As long as you are happy with the price and performance of the lens, you have a bargain!

It's a great lens which Nikon made in the early 90! Can't comment the price which you paid, if you find and happy with it, then will be with it for a long time.
This lens is well a most seeking lens from D70 users worldwide.

I agree with the above, nice lens, I have this lens and it represents good value for money. You paid the going shop price.

Some claim this lens is better than the current crop of consumer tele-zoom lens, 70-300, in both G and ED flavours. I have the MF version, which may or may not be optically the same - and it's the least crap of all the MF lenses I have.

I've had this lens (bought new) for, I guess, about 12+ years. I haven't used it a great deal with the D70, but it has definitely served me well over the (film) years. Can't remember what I paid for it new, but it wasn't a cheapie, so I'd say you got a bargain.

I got it new back in end of 89, totally used 4 times with the F90 + F5, most of the time is in the cupboard, now it becomes a collectibles item.

Thought I'd dust it off. Still takes a nice clear photo.

is it the push/pull 'D' version? I got this len, considering the price/quality, its great value.

I too have one of these, maybe 15 or 16 years old.

It's razor sharp, and a very nice lens to use.

This lens is push/pull non "D'"is their any real difference .In my searching the "D" is a better lens for flash ? if the optics are the same what is the difference?.Is this Holden talk for sorry we stuffed up last year model and yes the brakes and gearbox work a bit better on NEW SERIES 2

the 'D' version gives distance information to the flash. ohterwise no difference between lens
