Question about meets? In Sydney?

Newer members often state that they think their question is too basic, or stupid, or whatever, to be posted. Nothing could be further further from the truth in any section at DSLRUsers.com, but especially here. Don't feel intimidated. The only stupid question is the one that remains unasked. Question about meets? In Sydney?

Postby ipv6ready on Mon Feb 28, 2005 10:01 pm

What happens in the mini meets and what is the difference from a "normal" meet compared to a MINI meet?

Since I see that it says it is at Birddogs? Does this mean we should bring something? eg snack or drinks? Also do you have to be invited?

My girlfriend  would hit me with a baseball bat if I invited 10 or more people and she was expected to cook? :!:

Actually she would get takeaway with my credit card so she might not. Maybe she just doesn't like my friends.

Though I will be in Melbourne this weekend :P :D :D I will be at trackside with a laptop not a camera

ipv6ready, the reason why it's called a mini meet is because they are usually very informal and they basically happen every saturday at Birddog's place.
Birddog is always very welcoming, but I think it's a good idea to pm him and let him know you would like to come.
As for snacks etc, again Birddog has never asked for anything but other people have at times brought along something and it has been always appreciated.

We haven't really had a "normal" meet yet... well, we have... they're usually picnics or dinners or whatnot. Birddog's mini meets consist of coming to Birddog's, partaking in his immense generosity to let you play with all manner of gear, meet and greet with members, discussion of various topics, and maybe even learning things like Photoshop techniques or sensor cleaning.

From what I understand, you can bring something if you like. This past weekend, I think one or two of the people who came did bring things.

Oh, and if you're in Melbourne this weekend, like Dad and myself, you might want to join the two Sydney admins (that's us) and those of the Melbourne chapter who are eating on Lygon on Friday night.

Thank you for the offer in Melbourne.
I will be working from Wednesday and be on call 24 hours a day for the GP  till Sunday.

I will be the busiest on friday and saturday evenings

I hate working for communications - though we do get some perks.
Though last year nothing happened.

Yes i thought so, Birddog wife must be the most generous person I know.

I really need to get to a meet one day and learn to take photos. :D
