Does your D70 need to be serviced at certain periods

Newer members often state that they think their question is too basic, or stupid, or whatever, to be posted. Nothing could be further further from the truth in any section at DSLRUsers.com, but especially here. Don't feel intimidated. The only stupid question is the one that remains unasked. We were all beginners at one stage, and even the most experienced amongst us will admit to learning new stuff on a daily basis. Ask away! Please also refer to the forum rules and the portal page

Does your D70 need to be serviced at certain periods

Ok back then with the old SLR, I had friends that would take there camera for a service, get everything inside cleaned professionally. Do new digital SLR need to go through the same process. ?

Cheers

Well sort of - but we do it ourselves, and more regularly than a "major service". Cleaning the sensor/CCD - or more precisely the low pass filter infront of the CCD.

As with all things, you can neglect it and it'll still probably give you satisfactory performance - however look after it well and you'll receive optimum performance in return.

As Onyx mentioned, you'll enjoy the new rig, but have to well look after it, the return will bring you more surprises.
