Autostitch let me down for the first time...

Up til now, i've used Autostitch to do my panos without any ill effects...

However, today I tried something different... A 3x3 capture of a Sydney office building...

I provided Autostitch with the following input photos:

And after thinking for a VERY, VERY, VERY long time... it provided me with this:

Not quite what I was expecting... so what did I do wrong? Do I need to change one of the many parameters in Autostitch to reduce the vertical squashing (for want of a better term)???

Any suggestions about how I could capture a more accurate impression of the height of these buildings???

Would Panofactory have produced a better result???

Looks like it's tried to do a few corrections (barrel distortion?) and maybe you want to keep that effect?

Maybe try the top three first..

then the next..

then the next..

then put those finished three shots in and see how it handles it.. you're just doing seperately what it should handle all in one hit, but I think it's just too much for the program to handle..

Good luck though..

Try taking more pics with a longer focal length (eg. 50-70mm). This will result in a pano with less distortion to correct your problem.

The final pano looks really good considering the amount of perspective and barrel distotion in the source pictures. You could reduce the distortion with a shift lens. Otherwise take the pictures from a further away or a higher location.
