Grey(an american term) usually refers to a product not imported by the countries official importer, instead imported by a third party. In this lens and some other Nikon lenses it can also refer to the colour, they are available in black and grey.

You lose the benefits of a local warranty, but can save perhaps around 40% or 50% of the cost. There's a couple of threads explaining this in greater deatail in the Bargains section, and I commend you to read and understand those threads, one of which will also answer your pricing (grey) question.
I'll also upgrade your status seeing as how you now have the requisite number of posts here; that will permit you to participate in the closed members' sections here.
