Nikkor AFD 24 F2.8D - works with F90x -> Not with D100

Hello everyone,

Has anyone come across this problem with a Nikkor....

Nikkor AFD 24mm F2.8D works fine with a f90x but with a D100 it comes up with FEE in all setting.

(I have set the lowest aperture on the lens and just for the heck of it cleaned the contacts with an eraser (on the lens not the body))

I have tried all setting and also reset to Factory default to no avail on the body.

The d100 and F90x works fine with all other Nikkor, Sigma EX and Tokina ATX.

The only thing is that the 24mm AFD is the oldest lens I own. Could this be a problem?

Do you think sending it to Camera repair is worth it? Or is the D100 and Nikkor 24mm not compatible? Does anyone know

The only thing I can think of is wiggle the aperture setting at the smallest setting (I think f22 on that lens) to see if the FEE error goes. Sure sounds like aperture, but you have done all the right things. One of my lenses needs a wiggle on the aperture ring every so often so it makes contact. Good luck

Not sure that I can offer any other help than aperture lock, which you have already done. My 24mm f/2.8D works fine on both my F90x & D70, so it should work on the D100.

i've got a 24 afd, but it works fine on all my nikon cameras.
iam afraid i can't offer much advice on what wrong with your lenses have you checked to see if the blades are moving correctly on twisting the barrel and setting it at f22 and using the tab to move the blades out?
is there any oil on your aperture blades?

Thanks everyone.

I just remembered that the manual had a list of Nikkors that cannot be used on D100.

I will check on this and if the manual does not show any valid reason why it should not I will send it to Maxwell.
