Hi Guys,
there is a lens on ebay I am interested in purchasing, it says it comes with a 1 year Nikon International Warranty (Blank warranty card), my question is do you need a tax invoice or something to use the warranty card?
Thanks again.

Only lenses bought via the Australian agent and distributor of Nikon products, Maxwell, have an Australian warranty. Maxwell refuse to do warranty repair work on cameras which have not been purchased in this manner.
An international warranty would require the lens to be returned to its original country of purchase (say Hong Kong, or USA) for repair.

Hi Cricketfan,
So I suppose that means that Nikon international warranties carry little weight.....in Australia at least. I always thought the idea of a international warranty is that you can get the lens reparied in any country. Is this a specific Maxwell thing, is there any one else in Australia that would abide by a Nikon International Warranty ?

International warranty grants only to the original purchaser with original invoice.
Say: if you purchase the lens from HKG and seller issues you with the invoice and its international warranty, then you're OK to bring to Maxwell for warranty and Maxwell will honour the international warranty, and it's applied only to the lenses or other parts, accessories, not DSLR.
Warranty or international warranty is not transferable.

Hi Birddog, thanks for the response.
I suppose this means that if I was to buy a lens in HK as a gift for a family member with International Warranty I would have to ensure that the family members name was on the invoice?
Is that correct?

Not necessary, normally HKG seller just do the hand writing as "Cash Sales" on the invoice, the sold date is an important + serial of the lens.
