Getting a lens from HKSellers?

No Question too stupid eh, I'll test that.

My wife is a browser of these forums. I'm not much of a photographer myself, can you tell? :)

I have done some research, asked some questions and I've decided to get her a Sigma 105mm Macro EX DG as a present.

I have read some posts about Birdy talking to Poon to get lens sent in but not sure of the process. Would some benevolent person advise me who to contact to a:get a price for this lens and it's non DG counterpart and b:how to import it.

I'm very sorry but I'm not quite sure of the process and don't want to bother people unneccesarily.

Thanks all,
Dave

Just go over to HKSupplies and order what ever you wish over there. Delivery is usually fairly quick and safe. ATM you are required to contribute 30 or more post to benefit from D70user.com prices. Most of Birddogs equipement is sourced from HKSupplies.

Would anyone know what I'd expect to pay for the above lens from HKSupplies? I need to know if I have enough money to begin with!

I had a look at the website and can't find the lens listed. Sorry, I'd ask my wife but I had hoped this would be a suprise :)

You're looking to pay around or little bit over of $600.00 including shipping and if you're lucky enough, then no GST on top of it.

Ahh Birddog, thanks for the information and a pleasure to talk to you. I couldn't see the lens on the HK website so I emailed sales@hksupplies.com requesting a price and how to pay for it. Is this OK to do?

Out of interest what would the special Birddog price be for that lens?

Thanks for your assistance :)

 You're Thanh? So sorry, you must be sick of me already :).

Just got your reply, boy do I feel stupid.

Edit: Sorry one more quick question. When i order a lens and if customs grab it and demand 10% GSt is there also a customs fee to pay?

It depends on the mood of the day of the boys in blues, but normally any import goods excess AU$1K then you need to fill up a Customs form for clearance and pay Customs charges (fees) at around $55.00 + GST payable amount.

Ahh, worst case I should just have to fork out $60 for GST then.

Thanks for your time and patience :)
