newbie QHi All
Great website , after using a P&S digi for a few years . Loved the convenience of the digital format but pained for an SLR again , after reading many good reveiws and lots of browsing on sites such as these i just updated to a D70 today . DSLR Yay !! Anyway my Q relates to sepia / B& W - ie does it exist as in the D70 as a "on the fly" mode or are these great photos i see here in b&w shot normally & then created externally thru software?? Sorry if its a silly Q cheers
Welcome to the tribe of D70!
B&W can be conversion from pictures taken with the D70 thru softwares as PS/ PSCS. Birddog114

heyGuys ! I have got Photoshop on my computer and installed the kit Nikon software (picture perfect 1.5?) to pull from the camera. Only used it briefly last night but wasn't that impressed with it- seemed a bit clumsy effort . Does everyone use this or something else ? Thanks again , hopefully i'll be spending a bit of time in here
Hi ironhorse, there is another program called nikonveiw that is downloadable (free) from the nikon / maxwell website (have to register your camera first i think). I found it a lot less clumsy than picture perfect.
Leave the Picture Perfect intact! It's rubbish! download NV and you'll enjoy it at your first shot.

Firstly welcome ironhorse- u will find this forum an amazing place with some amazing people and helpful hints and tips...hopefully you will be able to come along to a mini-meet one day too. I like NV to first glance at my photos, then if I want to adjust, manipulate them, I use NV to launch Photoshop CS 2 wher e there is a LOT which can be done with your said shot.. Please feel free to keep on asking questions and post some of your photos. By the way, where in Sydney are you from? Geoff

G'day,
Welcome to the forum, ask heaps of questions as there's heaps of knowledgeable people here I used to do all my viewing with Nikon View and editing in PSCS, now with PSCS2 I use the bridge most of the times I would have used NV, but still use NV now and again just to really quickly scan through a heap o' pics for rubbish to delete. I find NV handy for quick scans, but Photoshop (or PaintShopPro) for editing... Cheers. Aka Andrew
