Photoshop File History Option

I am currently working my way through a book (well, ebook to be completely correct here) on Digital Workflow and they mention the History File option in Photoshop.

I was just wondering how many use this option. If so, have you found it helpful? If you have made a decision NOT to use it, why not?

thanks
Deb

Hi Deb, Are you referring to the History Log preference option?

This is where you can select to save a concise history log to either the files metadata or a txt file.

I have this preference on to save log to metadata. I find it a valuable to when reconciling my editing, an as a good reference for future editing.

Hi Michael

yes, that's it.

Thanks for your feedback. It looks useful to me, but thought I would ask others who have real life experience with it.

Cheers
Deb

It is useful, I don't refer to it daily but when I need to check how are particular image was edited it is my first port of call. It can get quite large though so I wouldn't recommend turning on the 'detailed' option otherwise you'll be there for hours reading it.
