Avatar Sizing Problem. HELP!!!

Postby waspo on Thu Sep 01, 2005 11:36 pm

I've been trying to down size a pic to use as my avatar, but just can't work out how to do it. I'm using PS and dropping image size to 100 x 66px's as allowed on this site. Fine. At this point the picture looks fairly broken up and pixely. Then I 'save for web' to get the file size down but it just won't get down to 6kb or under, even if I drop to the lowest quality JPG.
I could down size even more, but then I wouldn't have much of a pick to use as an avatar.
Can anyone tell me how they managed to get theres so low and detailed?

Here is the pic I'm trying to use. feel free to shrink it if you can.

Cheers, Jase.

I don't know what your problem was. I took your image, cropped off the extraneous border, resized down to 100 pixels across, then used Save for Web's "Optimize to File Size" to it it to fit under 2kB.
Very little work, and here's the result:

Will that do?
