Don't panic.I've just disabled the rss feed temporarily, because I'm just checking a few things.
It should be back up within the next hour. Back up now. And Scott, while I hate to say I told you so ... I told you so! Last edited by gstark on Tue Jan 25, 2005 2:20 pm, edited 1 time in total.

You keep out of this, you're dead. An ambulance arrives. >bugger You keep out of this, you're dead and should be concentrating on developing a good firm rigor mortis. You are put in the ambulance, which drives away. >oh blimey For a dead person you are talking too much. As the ambulance reaches the mortuary a fleet of Vogon Constructor ships unexpectedly arrives and demolishes the Earth to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. We are about to give you your score. Can some one please send me a link or some thing explaining what the hell this RSS feed thing is?????
& how to get it up & running so I can have a look at it working Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism<<
This is something I actually worked out for myself (becouse I was to afraid to ask also)
I downloaded Mozilla Thungerbird and then you need to go into manage subscriptions (I think) and you add the link that the little orange box opens up. It seems that basically you get every message posted into your e-mail account (or RSS reader, not so much your e-mail account) and then you can follow the messages that way instead of having to log onto the forum. This was the first time I had even heard of RSS so I could be a little confused on what else it can do? Gary - Feel free to correct me. W00DY Andrew
Nikon D3 and lot's of Nikon stuff!!
No worry’s mate. I thought there must be more of us out there that were sitting there scratching there heads???? Now just got to work out what the hell mozzila thunderbird is!!!!!! If I don’t come back for a while you’ll know my heads blown up. Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism<<
Ok.. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication...
All A RSS feed needs is a series of XML (X Markup language) to format title, subject, link etc... Now once you have a page or code (eg myfeed.php) to generate this code there is a wide variety of clients that can do stuff with this info For example, my personal organiser software, Kontact, has a summary page where it shows the number of unread emails, upcomming appointments from mty calendar and any news feeds (RSS) that I may be watching... For example the SMH (http://www.smh.com.au) offers rss feeds... New page

RSS is basically a protocol that allows you to be constantly updated with new content on a particular site... In our case it means you can set your "reader" to poll d70users.com for new content on a regular basis...
While Thunderbird (as recommended by Leigh) may be a good solution I use a simpler and lighter solution called FeedReader available here RSS is similar to the old usenet newsgroups... (if that helps!!!) Cheers, John

Greg,
You should see a picture of Marvin... look at those sad, depressed, annoyed, bored, lonely eyes... More here Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Hmmm... Nnnnsic... I don't recognise any of those characters... that must be the US version...
The characters on this site ring more of a bell with me... (from my uni days - which was a long, long time ago) This picture is closer to my minds eye view of Marvin the Paranoid Android... btw... if you're bored with the hitchhiker series, try Douglas' Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency books - just as good - if not better... I still can't get over the fact that I saw Douglas Adams in Harvey Norman, Chatswood just b4 he died... Cheers, John

I also had the pleasure of meeting DA a few years back at a literary lunch at the QVB - fascinating because he was one of the first writers to do his writing all on a Macintosh.

Which just goes to show the belatedly realised value of a high quality sandwich, which would have been a far more useful thing for your Aunt to have given you, as it eventuated. ...memories, like the corners of my mind (starts rocking and dribbling)
I'd been ignoring this string because I didn't know what the @#$% an RSS feed was either, but the "Hitch-Hiker's" mention just perked my attention. I've got the whole series as MP3... just finished listening to it all over again on my iPod. The audio quality is excellent and if anybody (in this group only) is interested in saving themselves the effort of digitising it from their old records or tapes I'll happily supply them a copy on CD
Just pm me! Tim
Ironically, I've been listening to the exact same thing in the exact same format this week.
