Photo Challenge - March

Happy New Month, viewers.

It's time for another challenge, with some prizes donated by ... yourselves!

Members Garyr and Steve Griffin have very generously donated some great prizes. I'm waiting on final confirmation of some minor details, but I'm not going to let that hold up the parade. Full details will follow within a day or three, but in the meantime, a very big thank you to Steve and Gary.

On to the challenge:

Post processing is open, judging will be by a panel including Chris (sirch55) and myself, and the subject is "Globes or Gargoyles".

How you interpret the theme is up to you. Just make sure that you answer the challenge. Clue: if you need to explain your image, try again!

The challenge is open .... now! .... and entries will close at midnight on March 31. Please send your images to challengesATdslrusersDOTnet ... but please do NOT add that address into your email address book, as that creates a spam risk.

Should take be about 5 minutes to take the photo and do the pp on it, but it may take me most of the month to figure out what the bloody hell this challenge is all about.

As a hint, my thoughts in coming to this concept were that I was driving past the old GB's building at Broadway, and noticed that atop each of the buildings there was an architectural globe. Many buildings contain such adornments, and/or gargoyles ... but that does not preclude the humble world globe that you might have in your study, nor the even more humble light globe that may be in your shed.

Of course, if your shed has gargoyles adorning its exterior ...

The old scheme (post to pot-o-grass) allowed for placeholder photos.
Is this feasible under the mail-in scheme? Or is it too difficult to match the replacement?

I have actually taken a photo, and more surprisingly, it is for a DSLRUsers Challenge. Now, just a couple of quick questions:

1. PP restrictions? Global changes only or can I use "Make photo good" patch tool?
2. What pixel and MB size do you want the emailed images?

With images being judged, we have no issues with whatever post you to perform. The judges can decide how well the finished image complies with the theme.

In terms of size, something reasonable but the 800px limits don't apply. I guess that something around 1MB should be fine.

Does the photograph have to be taken in March? I have no chance to get to the city (or anywhere else that has gargoyles) but I do have some slides I took in Europe in 1991 and I could scan one and submit that.

Don't forget that globes are also included in the theme.
