Database moved

Postby gstark on Mon Sep 13, 2010 2:10 am

Ok ... the first stage of the changes has occurred, and we are now operating with the database on the new server.

I am also cutting the DNS across to the new server, but running the same codebase. This should be pretty well transparent to y'all, except that, hopefully, performance will improve.

I will also be interested to see if the strange issues that we were seeing, with the misplacing of posts from the recent posts pages, changes its behaviour now.

Please let me know what you see.

The only strange thing I'm seeing is that before my shortcut to Dslrusers (www.dslrusers.com) used to take me to the portal, now it takes me to the board index page.

I also note that the email notifications now go to my spam folder on gmail, so I'll fix that with some filters. Others may also have noticed this, if you were expecting notifications.

Phillip,

I've noticed that as well; don't yet know why, but I am also seeing a couple of other things within the admin control panel that may be related. I'm wanting to do a software upgrade soon, to bring us up to the latest version of phpbb3 - we're about 5 versions behind, so there's a little bit of work for me there in terms of database manipulation because of the other custom mods that are in place.

Andre, thanks. That's a little odd, but we have no knowledge of who was using the IP address before I acquired it.

I'm not getting any notifications either and my spam filtering is off.
