PotW 8.8.06

Postby Glen on Tue Aug 08, 2006 12:16 pm

This Picture of the week was taken on the ferry hop excursion of the Annual Anniversary weekend. It was taken by Six and the full thread is here.

I like this image as it represent a refreshingly new take on a very familiar icon. It also shows you dont need great weather or visibility to take a great image. Great portrayal of mood, for some reason reminds me of Paris in winter (no idea of why), what stuns me is I was 5 kms away and the weather was nothing like this.

Great image Jack.

Congratutions Six! It was great to meet you and spend the morning out dodging the rain, a great and interesting shot.

Nice choice Glen, something different we haven't seen from a previous POTW.

An interesting shot. An usual view of a popular photographic icon.

Imagination at work here. Interesting picture. Congratulations Six.

Well done Glen - it's good to have something away from the norm.

Can we have the image in Glen's initial post in this thread please?

Done Trevor, didn't bother as it was same size as the POTW thumbnail, but have included it with link to the full image. Good idea

That's a cool shot, Six. Just goes to prove, no matter what the weather, opportunities are out there. The thumbnail is impressive, but IMHO the full size shot is even more impressive.
Great choice Glen.

Jack

Congrats on getting POTW. Next time though I'd suggest you'll get better pics if you wipe the rain off your lens.

I get this as well - I think it's the nostalgic feel of the image. Very nicely done :)

Me three. I think it has something to do with the Impressionist painting feel to it. Nice Picture Six. Well spotted.

Very innovative Jack. From the thumbnail it looked like a bad case of rock & and roll on the ferry.
Well done.

From a quick glance at the thumbnail, the photo was not impressive at all to me, but when I looked at the larger version and saw it was taken in the rain, it certainly stands out as very unique. Well done, and congrats on POTW.

Glen, I can't believe you chose this crap shot. This is the worst shot I've ever seen picked for POTW.

A disgrace.

I'm kidding, Jack is a good friend of mine and has been for many years.

I too thought it just camera shake from the thumbnail, but it's an interesting take on a much photographed icon.
