Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

There are some subjects which will be photographed endlessly, and
the reason we are drawn to those subjects is that they strike a chord
with the photographer and the viewer. Whether it is natural beauty,
"cuteness", a strong emotional appeal or otherwise, these subjects
are tried by most who gain an interest in photography.
Some become the subject of certain derision. NAFS is a popular
extended three letter acronym for Not Another Sunset/rise (like RTFM
stands for Read The Manual).
Well I don't care. There is something about an intense sunrise or sunset
that appeals to our fundamental relationship with the cosmos. Sound a bit
grandiose? Well too bad. I have been on this planet for just under 20,000
sunrises, and I still get a special feeling when a blazing red sky is there
to greet me at the start of the day.
This week's Picture of the Week is from Pa, a beautiful sunrise over the ocean,
with all the elements which can make a sunrise a fantastic subject, but which
require skill to capture effectively. The colours in Pa's shot are truly magnificent,
and I think this is a fine example of the art of the sunrise.
Well done Pa, great shot.

Pa,
you have these sunrises to a fine art, always love looking at them. Over your time in the forums, they have just gotten better and better. Congrats on POTW.
Well chosen Greg, I'm also a big fan of sunrise/sunset, no matter how many I see.
cheers,
André

Well done Pa - a good surprise waiting for you when you return from camping at the end of the week!
I'd agree that this is one of your best sunrise shots so far, and yes, you are getting better and better with every early rise
Looking forward to some of your camping shots - I reckon there could be a few more POTW's coming up for you

I never tire of sunset/rise shots, they are like fingerprints, no two are the same.

Well done Pa. I always love your sunrise shots.
I see the sunrise every morning from the cab of my truck but never take the camera to capture the moment. I am glad that you take the trouble to record and show us the start of each glourious day.

Pa
Congratulations. This shot is worthy of POTW. Now go take some sunset shots or something else please. Otherwise you'll use up the world's finite quota of these images and leave none for the rest of us.
