I'm usually a bit late, but being late was well worth it today because the image I've picked is a stunner... and it's a special one too.
Patrick, while you don't play with you Meccano's anymore, you're obviously still quite adept with your toys because you're taking beautiful shots like this.
This is a shot that would likely make Nan Goldin proud. It's a touching image that literally glows. It evokes warmth and the colour is magical. Excellent work Patrick... and to you Alicia (If it's any consolation, my next choice was Alicia's second Dee Why photo...)
Patrick, in your signature, it says:
Aim for 2007: get a POTW and take amazing photos of first newborn.
Congratulations... you've done both at the same time.

Thanks a lot guys & especially Leigh. Whilst I will have to google to see who Nan Goldin is, I saw an image on a brochure for a Leica sponsored competition in Melbourne earlier this year which was of a baby being lifted up from the mother (after C-section, presumably) with chord still attached. The surgical lights where the only light source providing great and targeted illumination on the baby, with good fall off to the surrounds.
I wanted to capture a similar image yesterday (although very thankfull that a c-section was not required) and the little crib where Alex was bathed gave me the closest I would get to it.
And thanks for the encouragement and well wishes everyone has given the three of us here and on the other thread - it shows why this should be given Forum of the Year status (if such a thing was available )
Cheers
Regards, Patrick

Congratulations on POTW and on the Baby.
An extremley deserving winner. There are not many opportunities for a shot like this, well done for grabbing the opportunity with both hands and producing such a magnificent shot.

Huge congrats Patrick and Alicia!
It's been hard keeping up with the site lately, with a few things that have been going on - so I probably would have missed this great news if it wasn't for Leigh's choice for POTW - It's a great pic of a momentous moment in both of your lives!
