Who would have thought that you could all post so many good pictures in week! I went though and opened every picture I liked in a new tab in my browser so I could decide between them and, well, lets just say I had a lot of tabs open!
But, in the end, I kept coming back to one image time and time again:
One thing I like about this image from our Canadian member Dooda is that it is an image of what we would normally perceive as a dull subject.
What makes this image work (well for me) is the very strong composition. The strong diagonal composition leads the viewer along the road to... well... to somewhere
The original thread is HERE
Congratulations Dooda!

Well done Dooda, great picture. BTW what happened to the sign? (It was this image that had the sign in the bottom left )
Mal I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.

Mal,
The sign probably signed off.
Dave, congratulations, and Scott, great choice in what was a very strong week.

congrats on POTW Dooda.
I loved a few of the images from this thread. but for some reason this one didnt grab me like a few of the others. guess I am just not arty.
My favourite was the close encounters image!!
not taking anything from this image, its just that I preferred some of your others.

Thankyou very much all.
I finally decided that the little sign's time was up. It's one of those quirky little things that you think might work, but finally (as always) decided that the little mistakes sometimes work out, but usually not, so I replaced the picture from my Flickr account.
I too, love this image. Hard to compare to the others because it's very different. I was framing some tractors and trucks underneath the bridge, and casually forced the lens us and caught a view of the bridge with no ground, which, to me gave it a sort of cosmic spacey feel that I liked, so I planted the tripod and took the shot.
I also find that these night shots on these highway ramps tend to give them some kind of human or animal like quality. That may sound crazy, but for some reason this and the others in my stream feel like crawling animals. Thanks again for POTW, what a pleasure!
I must say that I believe that Dee's city by the sea picture was this week too, so I know that this was in very good company.

The POTW is great I love the lights coming of the over pass giving it a strange look of something we see most nights and don't even notice , but I agree with Avkomp, with the 'close encounters pic' but with one small comment of my own; I think if the fence and the green shed wasn't in the shot it would be even better!
Nice POTW Dooda

Great pick Scott, and well done Dooda this is a great shot and reminds me very much of Descent Freespace a Sci-fi game I enjoyed.

Congratulation Dave and good pick Scott.
When I opened the thread and I remembered all photos I saw some times
ago. Really impressed but the light and color.
My favorite is third one.
Quality images we can see only in professional magazines.
Well done.

I raved about this shot when it first popped up and it's still one of my all time favourites. Masterfully crafted by Mr Dooda and an absolute winner in every respect. I liked the sign in the original, as it appeared to be being attacked by the great concrete beast sneaking up behind it. (Okay.. maybe I need more sleep)
Excellent choice and a shot that, I surmise, we'll be seeing again later in the year.
Thanks Scott for a great choice and thanks Dave for a sterling piece of work.
