Picture Of The Week - July 4, 2006

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

Picture Of The Week - July 4, 2006

Postby Nnnnsic on Tue Jul 04, 2006 11:22 am

Woohoo!!! I get to pick Picture of the Week for July 4! Let loose some fireworks!!!

Actually, you don't need the fireworks because the stars in this shot from Rooboy dazzle your eyes for you.

Image

It's a beauty of an image. Really is. Great depth running through the image, fantastic colours... just an excellent image overall.

Congrats Patrick, very well done the cemetery is a great location and you've improved greatly over your last visit!
That's one a piece of you and Kris right ? This would be the first couple to both have POTW's that I know off.

Nice choice Leigh.

Well done Patrick. A very good photo indeed.

I don't envy the judges. Choosing a POTW winner must be getting harder and harder 'cos the quality of images submitted here daily is constantly improving.

I think this week's POTW also deserves a Courageous Award as well :) I know I wouldn't have the guts to visit a cemetary at night, even if I'm not superstitious.

Congrats Rooboy!

This has alot working for it....
the density of the tombstones/monuments
the open sky but withe the flecks of the beginnings of the star trails
and last but definitely not least is the exposure....excellent exposure

Definitely a different take on things but it works well

Patrick, a great shot that has enough "spooky" appeal to make it work.

Strewth, great color and mood to this... Cemetaries can be such atmospheric places/subjects and the you've really captured the ambience well here... Terrific stuff...
