I held off getting any favourites in my mind for this week, knowing the Christmas Party would provide some rich opportunities for members. Stubbsy did not disappoint, with this excellent shot of our Outstanding Member Of The Year, Matt Kaarma.
A great shot for so many reasons, the great use of shallow DOF with great sharpness and exposure of Matt, juxtaposed against the under exposed and OOF traffic and Oaks Hotel. (Note the circular highlights in the background, produced by the 9 rounded blades of a very nice lens). Great composition, with the viewer torn between the camera and Matt's eye.
Well done both Peter and Matt.

You really should look at this full size to take in how good it is, do that here

Very good selection, Glen.
Well done Peter.
The more I look at the photo and the more stories it tells.
Like a legend of photography.
A legend of our great Matt.
The camera is just another eye of Matt.
Enjoy seeing this kind of great photos.

Great pick Glen,
also a very appropriate photo for the occasion, Matt being OMOTY. When I first saw Peter's post, I was wondering who this Mr was !!
Well done Peter and also to Matt for his guidance then and always, great team effort

Seeing a larger version of this does emphasise its quality, and Stubbsy's explanation of how this pic was achieved (in the original post) is well worth a read.
So, a great pic of a wonderful achievement by Matt, and a very worthy PotW.
Congratulations Peter and well chosen Glen. PS - I think the trophy deserves an award too!

Great shot Peter, and a fine image of our revered OMOTY.
Well chosen Glen. Good work all around I'd say.

Well done Stubbsy,
I'm surprised you could even focus with that Red Wine
Amazing what a D2X can do to get its MASTER out of trouble.
Well done guys.

Thank you Glen for choosing this image. Thank you Matt for your expert guidance in creating it and for playing model. Thank you all for your comments.
This is one of those shots I just loved when I first saw it. It was near perfect out of camera and had minimal PP (curves and WB adjustment basically - WB because my WB was on sunny day I think ).
And as Glen has already said it's a great example of the quality of the 28-70 lens

Mic - that's priceless
Interestingly I'd only had about 4 glasses by the time this shot was taken. Probably made my hands steadier.
