Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

We are always learning. And as photographers, there are always new challenges put before us, with different techniques, and often the conditions under which we are shooting are less than optimal. And that's exactly the situation Mozzie found herself in here, when she was asked by a friend to shoot some portraits of performers who were appearing in a play this friend was producing. Some people would say no. Others would run away and hide. Mozzie stepped up to the camera, assessed the situation, and turned out this image. In her post, Mozzie notes the difficulties the shoot presented to her: lighting was wrong, the venue for the shoot wasn't the best, and she felt she didn't have the right gear. You wouldn't know that from this image. Exposure is nailed, the lighting is not too harsh, colour and density is great, focus is spot on. And I love the facial expression: it's telling me something, and I'm sure that there's a message that we're missing because we are not seeing the context of the play. Mozzie: you've done really well here. Love your work.

Congrats Mozzie. I think this fellow has a face more suited for radio, but nevertheless, a great shot all the same. :-)

Thanks Gary!!!!!!! and thanks everyone for your kind words... totally agree he sure isn't pretty but I have on good authority that he's an half decent actor.
And once again thanks for all the advice on the actual thread ---it's always great to have a place to showcase photos but its so much better to have opportunities to learn <3
