Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

Yeah, me again. It was supposed to be Geoff, but unfortunately he's unable to do it in a timely manner, so I've stepped into the breach. One of the advantages of having the keys to the whole forum, I guess. There was a couple of really good images making my choice even more difficult this week than is ordinarily the case. At the end of the day (or week, or beginning of the day, or ... ) I decided that I liked David's unusual view of the V8 Supercars at Homebush most of all. I think that this image illustrates that all too elusive term, "the decisive moment". David was in the right place at the right time, and captured an image that shows us what is actually a very critical moment in any modern car race. I think the truncated worker on the left only adds to the image, helping to illustrate the urgency of what is being done. Well done Dave.

Very good shot and very good choice. Although, to qualify as a decisive moment, doesn't it have to be shot with a Leica?

I sort of brushed this one by when Gary first announced the selection.
But it has grown on me since. I think the viewpoint and the composition are so unique for motor sport.
Nice image Dave, and well selected Gary.
