POTW 24 Aug 2013

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

POTW 24 Aug 2013

POTW a day early this week since my social life owns my next 2 evenings

Chris (sirch55) has been a little prolific with the images of late and has put up quite a range of shots, but this image below just jumped off the screen at me. It has a lot going for it - lighting, composition, depth of field and even the framing of the stamen (so we see neither end) make for a strong image.

Well done Chris and well picked Stubbsy. Until I read the word stamen almost thought I was looking at corn on the cob.
