This week's PotW is from our young turk from the west, darb / Brad.
I was immediately taken by this image when I first saw it, the placement of the elements, the atmosphere, all seemed to have been created with great care and consideration.
Then Brad mentions that he shot this as he screamed past at 70 kph through the sand dune! Bloody hell! So, I guess in some respects it is a lucky shot. But even lucky shots require a number of critical conditions - a photographer who knows his/her equipment, has the camera ready, takes the photo at the right time, and spots it as a keeper. Yes, the black OOF thing in the corner (presumably the mirror on the vehicle) could have been cropped out, but it is there, and in context with the circumstances of the shot being taken. EDIT: Brad has cropped the image and removed the black area, to much critical acclaim from all and sundry
Brad has shown that he has an excellent eye and the technical skills to take quality photos. And with all those shots of sand dunes and wake boarding and 4WDs and girls, you could be excused for thinking he lives in a Coca Cola commercial.
But I digress. I like this shot a great deal, and offer it up as PotW.

including a few other fine shots from the same outing.

Well done Brad, congratulations.
A good choice for POTW, Greg.
Love the sky and just the hint of colour in the silhouettes.
Cheers

greg I am flattered mate! If you ever see a bloke hanging out the side of a 4wd in sand dunes, with a mate driving like a lunatic, it is likely me
I found that image creeps a little, it was a little spur of the moment, and I didnt think too much of it to begin with ... but i find it has a bit of an eerie feel, something out of a Dean Koontz novel.
Agreed on the 4wd mirror in the bottom right, what do you think of this crop ?

Nice image, Brad. I think the crop does enhance it slightly too.

Wow. That crop has really heightened the effect. It's made a very effective shot even better.
Congratulations, Brad. Very well done and richly deserved.

greg : change the main pic to the cropped one if ya like? I probably should have given it a bit of attention beforehand seeing as it was elected
