Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

This week, I've had a hard time choosing.
Between that brilliant Lego man shot from earlier in the week, the picture of the spider close up, and some others I thought were great, I've come up with these two images, both from the same thread, by Aussie Dave:
Before the POTW goes up each week, you should know that we moderators tell each other about our upcoming decisions to see what everyone thinks.
Granted, it's still our individual decision and not a collective one, but it's good to see what everyone thinks.
This is a good example of that, mind you.
As a collective, the mods and admin group seems to prefer the first image.
Me personally, I prefer the second image (which was the third on the original thread).
I love the face on the person throwing the card as well as the direction that the flash caught it.
Composition-wise, mind you, the first image is the better one, hence why I'm giving it Picture Of The Week.
That said, both of these are brilliant photos.

Well deserved POTW. Well done Dave, congrats.
I like Leigh too was in two mind about both shots. Execution wise the 1st is the better of the shots as the card in my opinion has come out looking the best. The 2nd shot I like better for pose/expression of the card thrower, and the blur of the card. However it's just a bit washed out.

I feel honoured to be the winner of POTW, and I must say I have been walking with a spring in my step all day since I saw my photo "up in lights", so to speak
Thanks goes to Leigh for nominating me, and to everyone for your kind words and praise.
I have to admit that when I set this shoot up, my intention was to capture a shot worthy of entering into Challenge 5. My critique on the shot (I'm talking about the 1st pic here), is that the card isn't quite in focus (for what I was really looking for). Albeit, I shot just over 120 photos that session just trying to get that "one great shot" and this was about the closest I got....which I am still happy with, I just personally felt it lacked (from what I had pictured in my mind).
The 2nd pic shown above, I would have preferred as well if it wasn't for the blown out card. If only the exposure of the card in pic 1 was displayed in pic 2, I would have really had something to smile about.
All in all, it was a challenge unto itself and I'm happy with the outcome I walked away with.
Again, thank you to everyone and I hope this inspires some of you to look for different ways to use the craft we call photography

Quite possibly. I often find I'm my harshest critic. I've just learnt to live with it.
However, please don't get me wrong.....I am extremely happy with the photos, but moreso that I thought about how to capture the shot and succeeded. I'm obviously learning.....and alot of it has come from the breadth of knowledge exhibited in this forum. Dave

However, if the Joker had have been in focus and to the right a little, I wouldn't have had POTW this week, as I wouldn't have posted any of these pics and the Joker photo would have been entered into Challenge 5 Dave
