Siberian Winter (6 pics)

Hi,

Just want to share few pics taken by my father couple of weeks ago. I scanned film, did colour correction, curves, levels, bit of sharpening and cropping.

Comments and critique, as always, very welcome. Just note, that snow is very reflective and colours often turn to colours of environment and it makes nightmare of color management.

Hmmm. I miss the snow this time of year but something tells me it is a bit cooler there for a longer period of time :!:

Exposures are not an easy task with snow so tell your dad he did well

Exactly! That's one of the biggest reasons why I am here!

Already told him so! :) Actually, he is the person I've started to learn photography from about 20 years ago :) But that time we used B&W only, developing and printing ourselves, manually

Beautiful scenery and great images. I visited Siberia in the summer of '97 and enjoyed 20 hours of sunshine every day. I would love to have been able to visit in the winter to experience scenes like that though. Thanks for sharing them with us Mikhail.

Thanks from my dad, everyone!

This is Tomsk, town in Western Siberia, population more than 500K. This place called Camp Garden, this name sourced from year 1812 when it was a military camp for army and militia going to war with Napoleon (Napoleon the emperor not a cognac :) ). Tomsk was established in 1604

Thanks for the info Mikhail...I love geography and finding out about far away places. If anyone was contemplating visiting Tomsk for the NY celebrations, pack your winter woolies, they are expecting -20 degrees

1. Australian custom allows only 2 liters of vodka :)
2. Best vodka I've ever tried was british made Smirnoff with black label :)
