Enlargements

I'm looking to get some enlargements from some old film and talked to the guy in a local shop and he said they scan the film and then print.
I'm not going waaay big but prob 30x40cm or approx.
Should i keep searching for someone to do a direct print (ie project the neg onto light sensitive paper) or is this scan the way to go.
I havent had too many colour enlargements but used to do all my own B&W- no idea of the enlargement process using colour photosensitive paper. I dont really want to spend more than $60 per print.
Thanks
Robert
