Anyone Have expired film??

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any expired colour film? Seeto (who has been absent from the forum for awhile) has started to play with redscale, and it complaining to me that film is burning a whole in his pocket, so I thought I would ask if anyone has any expired film and stop him wasting money on destroying fresh film for redscale (seems a waste to buy film to chuck in a glovebox to destroy).

Cheers

I am not sure what redscale is, just been shown the results, rather interesting though.

"redscale" comes because there is a strong color shift to red due to the red-sensitive layer of the film being exposed first, rather than last (the red layer is normally the bottom layer in C-41 (color print) film). All layers are sensitive to blue light, so normally the blue layer is on top, followed by a filter. In this technique, blue light exposes the layers containing red and green dyes, but the layer containing blue dye is left unexposed due to the filter.

Very interesting.

I would also expect a very minor focus shift to occur as well. Instead of focusing directly on the emulsion, you're exposing through the gelatin base, and then the emulsion. While we're talking a poofteenth of a micrometer, I can imagine some situations where this might be critical.

I reckon I have a bunch of 35mm 400 in the warehouse. It is however in 1000 foot rolls (From Bank security cameras). Not sure how you would go reloading it onto spools?
