Nice! You have isolated the bursts and made them look like flowers!

Nice shots, mostly better than my attempts last night.

What settings did you use? How far away were you located from the action?

how far away ...

Hi tsanglabs,

where are your photos ?

the D70 settings were:

manual focus (set to infinity)
aperture f11
exposure 2-3 seconds
focal length 18mm
RAW (NEF) mode

no postprocessing other than resizing for Web.

distance to "launching pad" perhaps 100m
altitude of bursts I don't know

I put the D70 on a tripod and timed the shots so that
a burst from a launched rocket would occur while the shutter was open.

I'm in brisbane at the moment, and I took about 200+ photos so having a bit of trouble organising since i'm away from my workstation and only have my struggling laptop.

I think my problem was distance, at I was about 1.5 km away, while you used a 18mm I was at mostly 70-80mm.

Will post some when I get a chance.

Great shots Christian. Could I ask what ISO and WB settings you used?
