Canberra meet on AW

Locals,
I'm unfortunately in a position where I'm unable to attend the AW events in Sydney due to a rather <insert inappropriate expletive laced rant> of being placed on on-call (with 1hr datacentre arrival) for the whole month of August.
Sadly, as I do not own a suitable aviation appliance, Sydney doesn't exactly fall within 1hr travel time of Canberra CBD.
So, are there any Canberra folk that are interested in a micro-meet on the AW weekend? I'm gathering interest for just the moment in case you're all fortunate enough to join the festivities up the road.
On the other hand if your either time poor or fuel poor, or just can't make it to Sydney, lets get a Canberra branch AW meet together!

Daniel, why don't you ask for Glens Porsche to be made available for you in Sydney. As you know it's pretty much a straight road from Sydney to Canberra these days.

I think
someone has already tried this in a Bentley Continental GT:
sentenced to six months' jail after pleading guilty to dangerous driving on May 10 when he drove his Bentley at 231km/h on the Federal Highway at Collector, more than double the legal speed limit.
Shortall was driving a silver 2004 Bentley Continental GT. He was testing the motor vehicle with a view to buying. It would cost about $380,000. He'd owned other Bentleys and had Mercedes Benz in his fleet as well.
The court head the Bentley had the potential to reach a top speed of 340km/h. The Bentley web site puts its top speed at 318km/h. Either way, the car can go fast. "Phenomenal power yielded in the most refined manner imaginable," is how the Bentley people like to put it.

Hi everyone,
let your ideas be known.
I haven't really got to many ideas at the moment
However we could go to both Portrait Galleries and see the works
of Australian Photographers.
Let us know, I can make time

Christian

Glad you guys had a great mini-meet. The weather today was perfect. Like to see more photos .
Went down but didn't see (recognise) anyone so walked around and took a few photos myself. I have never seen "the car" before, so unfortunately didn't recognise it!!

Ah, bugger.
And to think that I was wandering around doing very little with my D200 on my back.
Pity I didn't know what the hell AW weekend meant.

CD, I like your second distorted photographers shot - it's deceiving where the reflection begins and ends!
Wombat124 / Whiz.... whoops looks like I screwed up again
Due to working back late each night this week, I didn't get a chance to do recon on the meeting point, and forgot that the surface car park was split over two levels... we were in the lower part (the C'th bridge end until 9.45 or so)
A lesson for next time I guess, I'll be more specific about dates and locations
Time to do some PP.

Great to see it all went well! Love the pics in the sculpture!
And it may please you to know I think it is colder in Sydney this weekend than in Canberra! We should hold the events there next year!

Fanastic work guys - looks like the Canberra chapter had just as much fun as all the Sydney folk. I am a little wind swept from the BBQ this morning but just think, in coming years we'll have 'chapters' in even more areas across the place. Glad you guys had fun!
