Hi Canberra dudes and dudettes,

The number of Canberra members of the d70users or dslrusers has increased. Yeeehaah ...
I would like to propose that we all meet, hey there are new members.
Let us have a get together and get to know each other and see the new faces.
I would like to suggest to meet on Saturday 11th June.
Where: hmhhh ... perhaps at 14:00 in the rose garden on the left hand side of the old parliament building ?

Regards
CD

Saturday 18th or Sunday 19th ?
I'm open to both days .. what time would suit you people ?

Lets get this on the way, date and venue please!

p.s.: rose garden ........... any time of the day ................

I recently went exploring around new parliment house and there are some amazing things to be seen... and photography is allowed throughout new parliment house (when parliment is not sitting)...

And there is a great Cafe/wine bar in old parliment house....

So I am happy with anything around that area.....

mmm, shame - looks like I'm going to miss this one. Dont get back from US until June 26.

Non-Nikon gear: I was hoping that I'd be back for the next meet as I currently have a Konica Minolta Dynax 7D on loan - I was going to bring it along for people to have a play with / compare to the D70.

Hi all,

are we going to meet on Sunday, 19th ?
May I suggest in front of the old parliament house at 14:00 or 10:00 ?
Or we could have lunch there and then move on ...

I am available all day on the 19th from 10am onwards, so any time is good.
Is the idea to meet at old parliament house?

In other words - count me in. :D

Hi all,

I will be in front of the old Parliament house on Sunday 19th 10:00 am
UNLESS it is pouring down.
Please , if weather permits, come and join.
If there is another suggestion, especially regarding possible rain, please let us know.

CD,
 Is there a march or protest regarding taking photo in public place?

Hi Birddog,

march, protest ??? not that I'm aware of.
However I guess we can challenge security with poking our cameras and other things around such as monopods that suspiciously could be used as a weapon ...
Backpacks full of things that go booom ... ???
This actually leaves anything to the imagination of the paranoid !
Imagine D70users descend onto the new parliament house ...
a conspiracy !!! a ploy to blow up the place !!!

OMG

ohh, I just woke up from a nightmare.

Cheers

Sorry guys, I won't be able to make the meet tomorrow morning.

I had a wedding appointment scheduled for this morning with a couple and they just called to change it for 11:00am on Sunday - how could I say no!!!

I would like to go to the next one - if there is ever another.

In light of the recent negativity on this topic of rain, :P
I am endeavouring to still make it. The BOM radar shows heavier rain approaching, but it looks like it won't last _THAT_ long.

Anyway, it's only water. :D :D

Hope to see someone there. :)

I've been monitoring the weather since 8:00 am
Drizzle, fog, single digit temperature ...
Naaa, I'm going to stay at home.

Hope to see you some other time.

Christian

Well. . . . .

My first meet was great :D 100% Canon user at a D70 meet.

Mind you, the company was lacking a bit. . . . .

Any way, thanks for giving me the motivation to go on a bike ride in rainy, foggy weather, at 5oC outside. I needed an excuse to get out of bed in the morning. :D

There seemed to be a classic car meet on at the park down from the Old Parliament house entry, meaning that there were a few different cars on the road, made for interesting viewing.

Cheers,
Tristan

Hi all,

sorry to let everyone down regarding the Canberra meet. :(
Looking out of the window, I said to myself: too wet, too cold, too much fog. :(
Gratulations Tristan, I admire your courage. :)
You were brave enough to cycle through fog, drizzle and 5 centigrade to attend the first DSLR meeting in Canberra. :D

I will try to be at our next meeting.

Regards,
Christian

Heya Tristan, good form on getting down there. I wimped out like everyone else. Funny thing is, it was actually 200% Canon users at a D70 meet - my mate with the 20D was there, walking round in the drizzle until he decided it really was pretty crappy weather! I admire your commitment, especially with the bike riding bit thrown in :-)

cheers,

adam
