430EX glitch?

Postby stevo on Sat Oct 25, 2008 7:01 pm

I bought some little light activated slave triggers for remote flash use..

they work very well on my old Metz unit but I found I only get one fire out of my 430EX each time it's turned on..

It doesn't matter if it's in ETTL or manual mode or slave mode it only fires once and then I have to turn it off and back on and it'll fire once again..

Is there a setting I can put it on??? or is it just that it's too smart for it's own good?????

TIA

You have to disable the "auto off" feature in the custom modes.
If you have thrown away the manual... http://www.myacrobatpdf.com/7499/canon-speedlite-430ex-flash-manual.html

tried that.... didn't work..

I've found a bit of info on the net... it apears to be a Canon trait..

I'll just use the Metz for those occasions..

Oops didn't realise that...

FYI the cheap ebay triggers work most of the time with the 430EX. Especially the Cactus variety.. Of course more bulky than little slaves..

Yeah I'll see how much I use these little optical slaves first..

If I'm doing enough then I'll look at the wireless triggers...

But at this stage using the optical triggers with my old Metz may be all I need..

just would been nice to use the 430 for most of what I wanted.... as it'll be the one that's in my bag all the time..
