Canon 24-70 2.8

Hi,
Upgrading my shorter end to FF and after opinions on the 24-70 2.8 / or suggestions as to better ?? 17-40 ? Not interested in 3rd party lenses

Very good versatile lens and plenty sharp even at wide open. Highly recommend.

I have only ever used this lens once, and I was very very impressed! Bit on the heavy side though.

There may be idiosyncrasies but this may be the best zoom you buy (perhaps = to the 70-200 4 or 2.8 versions). I'd be interested in what actual OWNERS of this lens has to say.

I would have thought that 17-40 would serve a different purpose to this lens, so not really directly comparable?

I assume you are using a 5D or 1D?

still with the 50D but looking at full frame in the hopefully near future

Deb, Dave has this lens and I used it at the fringe this year. It is very good and very sharp.
