Canon SX30 - any thoughts?Folks, a mate of mine is going o/s and saw this camera at duty free and wanted some thoughts. I have none and wondered if anyone here has any? cheers PS: I have steered him towards the G12 which appears to be at a similar price point.
Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Canon SX30 - any thoughts?Once a compact, always a compact. This camera was quite a standout in the superzoom category until the competition caught up. Not a bad camera but dont expect the same image quality as the G12.

Re: Canon SX30 - any thoughts?Patrick,
This might be a useful review http://www.cnet.com.au/canon-powershot- ... 306000.htm Time to first shot is 2.3 seconds!! It's probably that whopping zoom lens moving into position.

It might not be to everybody's taste, but is it is for me and my pocket.
