Dear all DSLRUsers.com, I new here and just want to say Hello to you guys. Just bought a used 30D and 17-85mm IS from a friend, am looking for a long zoom, any recommendation? Oh I shoot everything! :)

hi welcome

the 70-200IS f2.8 is legendary but quite expensive
it focuses faster than it's nikon counterpart

How much do you have to spend? Theres a 70-200L to suit all budgets :)

Consider the 70-200/4L, might be a steep investment starting out at $800~$1000 but it was my first L lens and still one of my favourites. It focuses quickly, silently and doesn't weigh a ton - the build quality is second to none as well.

There are many lenses to choose from, but the right answer for you is going to depend on:
  • What focal range do you want? What subjects are you after with it?
  • What's your budget?

Without those details we can just give you fairly random answers...
