Hey,
Just wondering if anyone owned one of these? I'm looking to buy one but have heard some aren't very good. Can anyone give me tips on getting a decent one?

i have used it it's good it's a fast lens in terms of aperture f2.8
but people may say its not good simply because it uses the motordrive of the camera body to focus, it's not a AF-S lens, hence slower focus speed
the cheapest place to get one is on ebay if your willing to deal with ebay

I have one of these (though in the nikon mount) and can't recommend it enough. I haven't heard any reports of sample variation, though of course it is always possible to receive a dud copy. I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as the place you're buying from has a decent return policy.
I'd say sharpness is on par withthe Canon / Nikon versions, build quality is not QUITE as good, and the focusing is fast even though it's not AF-S/USM
