Canon 5D Mkii.

Postby Wink on Thu Jan 14, 2010 9:21 pm

Has the price of these dropped recently?

Camera House in Melb's CBD has it listed at $2999 and the online sellers (Citiwide etc) have it for around $2600-$2700.

For interests sake the same Camera House has the 7D for $2299 and online it's about $1600-$1700.

For Aussie retail stock that 5D Mk II price seems really good!

That's a great price, if it's in stock. I just paid $3400 AUD at Camera house, but I buy everything through my local pro Canon dealer.

The PP has been increasing steadily through most of the latter past of last year, and it's risen by about US$0.04 since the start of this year. If Canon AU purchased stock at recent conversion rates, then this could (should) result in lower street prices here, and that may be what you're seeing.

Grey pricing should also show similar price reductions too, btw.

I will split your question into its own separate thread, as I think that would be more appropriate than tagging it on to Ozi's thread in this instance.

5D for $2,490 is not to bad.

Do you think those models are likely?
I wouldn't of thought there's much of a gap between the 7D and 5D MkII.

I've heard a rumour that there's a rumour that there's a Canon announcement coming up in February.

I wouldn't of thought there's much of a gap between the 7D and 5D MkII.

If you disregard sensor size, perhaps. I would have thought though that sensor size provided a rather large gap. :)

I've read of rumours regarding a 3D, which is a FF camera aimed at wedding photographers.
