Anyone had any experience with the 15-85mm f3.5-5.6?

Postby Div on Wed Jan 12, 2011 10:13 am

Hey guys I was thinking of getting this as my walk around travel lens for my 550D.

I was going to get the 24-105L but I think the 15-85 is more suitable on a crop sensor (and a bit lighter). I wish it had constant aperture though but i can live with that.

I have looked at some test shots for the 15-85 and it looks to compete in image quality with the 24-105L (which i was really suprised about)

Anyone had any experience with this lens?

Regards

After having bought (and broken the 17-85), I can tell you that the 24-105 will hold it's value much much better than the 15-85. >$800 is way too much for this lens I reckon.

In saying that, most of my pictures in the last few years were with the 17-85...

Its too expensive to consider unless you get it as part of a kit....grab a 17-40 F4L!!

I went for the 24-105, but I also had the 10-22, so it fitted in nicely.
