Today's Puzzle

Postby gstark on Thu Mar 09, 2006 12:53 pm

I turned my camera on, and this is what I see.

What's the deal? Anybody got any clues?

Seems to be otherwise working fine.

No battery indicator. Strange... Forgive me for maybe missing something but have you tried replacing the battery?

Your using a nuclear fission engine to drive the camera, so you no long need a battery indicator ?

Timbo's picked the problem in one, and yes, we've tried two different batteries with no change.

Leon, we tried pumping it up but with no obvious benefits. :)

Very strange ....

Let's see who can come up with something that I've not yet thought of trying. :)

Different battery ...different CF card ... .r&r lens ... different lens ... flash .. different shooting mode ... different wb/af/metering mode settings ... menu drill-downs ...

:)

Have you tried a hard reset? (can't remember if there's a pin location for this or not!)

EDIT: I have to
1) type faster
2) dont distract to work problems when I'm reading forum!

A few solid taps with a hammer ought to do something... not going to guarantee what it might do though...

Seen this sort of problem before with LCDs... usually due to heat exposure etc... also could be due to charge connection problems to the panel.

Don't give him a reason.

Lindy and I were quizzing him for a reason a few weeks ago for why he should get one and he couldn't come up with a reason aside for "I want it".

Has been sitting in the sun????? Excess heat is a good killer of LCD's.

or perhaps

If the first hammer didn't work it might be worth trying a BIGGER one.

Steve,

A bigger hammer might be the answer.

While it's not been out in the sun, I'm starting to think that it may be something like LCD failure; just a simple failure of that part of the circuit. I've seen that sort of thing before, but not usually after this short a period of time.
