SB800 vs SB600 IR receiving unit strenght?

Postby Dprime on Mon Feb 11, 2008 2:01 pm

Hey guys,
I was shooting some stuff out doors the other day using my SU-800 with a SB800 and 600 and notice that I could get the 800 to fire basically 100% of the time, but the 600 was ALOT less reliable even when placed in the same spot? I was wondering if anyone knew whether there was any difference between the 800 and 600's IR receiving capabilities?

The 600 works flawless indoors, so I'm guessing its just the outdoors/full sunlight that might be affecting its IR?

I'm about to buy 3 more 600's and am just concerned if I should atleast make one of those another 800 for safe measure.

Cheers,
Brett

The SB600 and 800 might have a very slight change in position of the IR light sensor. Make sure you have the SB600 pointed directly at the source and move the head to the direction you wish the flash to fire.
