D300 and rain / showersG'day
Something very rare is happening in Perth today - it's raining !! As the day progresses it's anticipated that the rain will become showers then occaisional brief showers. I had planned to take the camera and recently arrived Sigma 24-70mm to a Medieval Fair this afternoon. How paranoid of water and drops do I need to be? Is it a case of only go outside with the camera and me in a full body plastic wrap? or can I let a drop or two of water hit the camera as long as I quickly wipe it off? TIA
Re: D300 and rain / showersi have shot in light rain without an issue. when the rain got harder i have an open ended garbage bag to cover the lens and mount. i wouldnt worry about a few drops at all.

Re: D300 and rain / showersThe D300 like the 200 is "reasonably" shower proof.
I have shot with mine and a 300 2.8 in pouring rain under some trees at the Clipsal this year. No issues. Something to cover the camera is always a good idea. I have bought some of those cheap plastic bag shaped camera/Lens housings off ebay. Re: D300 and rain / showersI shot with the D300 + MBD10 in the rain yesterday, no problems, just make sure the lens you have on has a rubber seal gasket thingy, all of the f2.8 zooms have them, my 50mm f1.4 doesn't have it.
