D300 colour tones

Postby Justb on Wed Apr 02, 2008 12:32 pm

Hi everyone,
Have had my D300 since just before chrissy. I have noticed that it gives correct colour tones in every colour besides purple. Has anyone else noticed this??. Is it an issue or just somthing that i can fix up with White balance??. TIA

Just paint the rear LCD as needed. :)

I've not seen this issue. Are talking about on the LCD, or on your computer, or in prints made?

And how are your various systems calibrated?

And within what colour space(s) are you working?

what mode are you using ? i have found any of the vivid modes throw red and purple off especially so i always shoot in neutral. also what lens are you using ? my sigma 150mm blew purples all the time, whereas the 105mm nikkor renders perfect colour which i suspect has alot to do with the fact that the sigma is a much more contrasty lens than the nikkor.

Rooz you might have it. I am shooting in RAW 14 bit uncompressed. I use PS3 or lightroom to view them. But I have always shot in Vivid. This might be it. Will have a play tonight. Thanks for the tips guys.

I don't believe I have any problems with purple on my D300 when viewing the raw images with CaptureNX. Looking at them with Lightroom is another matter.

I have not noticed any colour tone problems in my limited use of the D300. I rented one for use at a friend's event and they came out perfect IMO.
