EN-EL15 Battery (D800(E)/D7000/V1) - Safety Recall...

Postby Remorhaz on Tue Apr 24, 2012 9:38 pm

Nikon has issued a recall notice for the EN-EL15 battery, which powers the D800, D800E, D7000 and Nikon 1 V1.

The defect may cause the battery to overheat, as well as the casing to warp. According to Nikon, there have been no reports of this happening, but the fault has been found in the manufacturing process.

The recall only affects batteries purchased or supplied after 29 February 2012.

Thanks for highlighting this.....I am glad to see that some companies are happy to make pre-emptive recalls rather than quietly fixing things when they go wrong for the end consumer

Thanks for the heads up Rodney. I have three of these batteries. I am happy to report all are in the clear. :)
