D70 or D200? Focus Test ChartI could be behind the news knowing the quality of the detectives on this site but last night I was doing some browsing and I came across this site on one of the forums. Hope it's useful. Happy Reading and worrying

Tim Jackson's focus test chart.
In the height of the D70's backfocus controversy, this was the definitive evaluation tool. I was happily using my D70 for 9 months fully believing nothing was wrong, until this test proved otherwise. It is evil, stay away from it. Sometimes the truth is not worth knowing... Ignorance is bliss.
I’m with Onyx on this - if you are happy with the results from your camera/lens don’t do it

If this test proves that the D70 focusses on other than what you are pointed at then I'm already painfully aware of it.
I had one shoot in low light where a mesh screen off to the side of the shot grabbed the focus in almost every shot despite having plenty of contrast in the characters I was shooting in center of the frame. Mark Greenmantle

If it's the case then more paintful for anyone has the camera and it's out of warranty.
Why should you bother, if you're happy with it! Birddog114

I've got a nice long warranty on my D70s so by the time the warranty runs out the D70s will be completely obsolete.
maybe before then it will break down beyonde repair and I'll get my hands on something else to replace it. I did the test and the results were spot on like I hoped, the hardest part of the test was making sure it was at exactly 45degrees. A string and a protractor sorted that out though. Are we there yet?
Hi all,
during the first three months of me owning the D70 I thought it was faulty. I was short of "getting it repaired" when I did tests and research mentioned in this post. The tests showed clearly that the camera was NOT faulty and from there on I changed my processes and focus improved a lot. Cheers, CD
obsolete is a word that companies would like you to believe to keep you spending your money. It's obsolete relative to your own use? Or relative to the marketplace and agenda of camera makers.
The D70 is truly only obsolete when there is no more software to read the NEFS or JPEGS that it creates. My opinion of course.
Couldn't help myself. Had to give it a go. Luckily my D70 passed with flying colours Finally I've found something that doesn't need repairing.
