anyone have it? played with it? or heard good/bad things about it?

i know both the 60 and 105 (non VR) are great lenses, but now comes this new nikon macro.....

I have the 105 non VR

I wont be rushing to upgrade,
seems to me that a lot of closeup stuff may well be executed on a tripod rendering vr redundant

If you look on the forums, you will see some wonderfully sharp images executed with the 105 micro as it is.

am I the only one who thinks this is probably unnecessary??

I like my non vr 105 micro. razor sharp although not quite as sharp as the micro 60 (not much in it though.)

Well I'm just back from my favourite photogear shop. I'd just about convinced myself the vr was worth the extra $$$'s, plus the build quality, silent fast AF, etc. The shop assistant talked me out of it. Now in HK they'd sell you you're old grannies' finger nail clippings so this took me aback. OK I said, can I try the Tamron 90mm? No chance, they are sold as soon as they arrive and you'll have to wait at least 2 weeks before the next order comes in. He'd ordered 20 and reckons he'll be lucky to get 5. Such is the demand. If anything, Honkies are smart buyers. I'm waiting in line for the Tamron.

Have you checked this out before?
