D70 and CR2 batteries

Does anyone have any experience using CR2 lithium batteries in a D70? I only have the original rechargable battery, but with a photographic weekend next week (and a longer trip to Canada in 3 mths) I thought I should have another option if it dies. I was wondering how long the CR2 batteries last, ie how many images they're good for (normal usage, without using the built-in flash at all).

Frank,
They don't last as long as the rechargeable EN-EL3 battery that came with your D70.
The money would be better spent on another battery from Birdy, as I recall these CR2 batterys are about $11 to $13 each times 3 equals about $40.. more than enough to justify a genuine battery from Nikon. :)

Thanks Paul. I will get a spare En-EL3, but I needed something by Friday.

If you cant get them at a camera store, the duty free stores at the airport would have them. Well at least syd airport it did, to my suprise.

G'day,

I had the errr, ummm, opportunity :? to rely on the CR2's I had in my backpack for several months and they lasted for a few long'ish exposure shots and then I started to get the low battery warning... Not sure how long they last un-used in the bag...

I'd go for a spare EN3, if you need one quick I'd either borrow one from a friend (maybe another forum member within a short drive or something?) or get one express posted...
