I'm looking at a Seagate 4.0GB CFII+ card for my D70.
I believe this will work in the camera but would like to know if anyone has had experiences with it or know of any problems.

Thanks
Justin

Hi Justin, I have used both Transcend and A-Data 4GB CF cards in my D70 without any issues or problems. I imagine that as the D70 can handle these brands, it can handle any brands.
Cheers
John

I would expect that the Seagate is actually a Microdrive, actually, being a CF type 2 card.

If that's the case, it likely to be a lot slower than you realise.

It is likely to work, but it is also likely to be bloody slow.

How much is it compared to a 4gb solid state CF card. My search suggests the solid state will be cheaper, and I'd bet it'll be faster.

If this is the one you are looking at it is a microdrive as nnnnsic says. I would stay well away for the money. Slower and moving parts compared to solid state

I have a 2gb mircrodrive in my arsenal.

It only comes out to play when I am super desperate and everything other CF card that I own is full.

They are slow to write, generate a huge amount of heat, lock up and corrupt data occasionally.

If it is a microdrive you're looking at, save the extra money and get a "normal" CF card. If it is going cheap, you know why.

Ok, thanks everyone. I decided to stay away from the microdrive. Just have to save up for the solid state CF card.

In the SAN disk range, is the Extreme model the lowest speed I should be looking at?

On a D70, it's unlikely to make a difference.

Hi Justin, in the site Nnnnsic has in his post the 4gb Transcend CF 120X is $135. This seems an OK price and there are many members here who use this card including myself. I have a D70 and I bought the 120X in the event that I may upgrade my camera at some stage - if this is not an issue then a 80X card will be fine. Cheers, Mick
